A place you will love to be

When lightning strikes sand it creates a fulgurite, a structure formed due to the super heating of sand into glass

As if by magic, these natural structures appear on beaches after storms. Is there an explanation for these mysterious rock patterns?

These natural oddities are called fulgurites. You’ll find their origin “shocking” to say the least.

Fulgurites are caused by lightning striking the sand during a storm. It’s no surprise that the average fulgurite has the same twists and turns as a bolt of lightning.

Did you know that fulgurites are hollow? You could use one as a straw if you wanted, though you really, really shouldn’t.
