Levin was reported missing by his son on July 8, 2019, after not being in contact for several days. Levin’s car was found on July 12, and on July 14, human remains were found nearby, which the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety described as highly likely to be from Levin.
According to The Oregonian, the actor drove a distinctive orange 2012 Fiat and was known to frequently travel with a fawn-colored pug named Boo Boo Bear. According to police, “using GPS data from Levin’s cell phone, search and rescue crews were able to narrow their search to a region near the town of Selma, southwest of Grants Pass, and scoured a rugged terrain for any sign of Levin..
On July 12, a resident in the area found Levin’s car on “a very remote and almost impassable road,” the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety said in a press release. The car was off the road and was disabled due to the terrain.
Levin’s pug, Boo Boo Bear, was found dead inside the vehicle. On July 14, human remains were found nearby, which according to the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, “depending on the circumstances, there is a high probability that the remains will be those of Charles Levin.”
According to a report published by the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, Levin had been dead for days. His body was naked, he lacked internal organs and he was embedded in the trees. The report indicated that “there were signs of animal collection probably in the form of turkey vultures as there was evidence of bird feces in and around the body.” The authorities used dental records to identify his body, and his death has been declared accidental.
The public safety report indicated that his Fiat was damaged and trapped in a pile of dirt. His pug dog Boo Boo Bear was found dead inside the vehicle.

The local who discovered his car and his body told DailyMail: “It seemed he was trying to take a route back to Grants Pass [where he lived]. But the road that followed was remote and has no signal. It’s easy to get lost and the GPS doesn’t work. ”
